Fill the Can

Terms of Use

Fill the Can is run by BluePhoenix ("we", "us"). It helps people organize a fundraising campaign: find businesses willing to hold a donation can, keep track of where cans are, record the money that comes in, and share a public campaign page. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms.

We don't handle money

The site never collects, holds or sends donations. Amounts recorded here are entered by each campaign's organizers and aren't checked by us. Online donations happen on the separate donation website a campaign links to, under that website's own terms.

Campaigns are run by their organizers

Each campaign is created and run by its owner and team, not by BluePhoenix. We don't verify campaigns, their stories, or how money raised is used. Please give only to people you know or trust. If something looks wrong, use Report this campaign on its page.

Your responsibilities as an organizer

• Tell the truth about who the campaign is for and how the money will be used.
• Only post photos, names and stories you have permission to share.
• Get a business's permission before leaving a donation can there, and follow local laws on fundraising and collecting donations.
• Keep business contact details you record private and use them only for your campaign.
• Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

Not allowed

• Scams, fraud, or campaigns for anyone other than who you say.
• Pretending to be another person or organization.
• Hateful, threatening, sexual or otherwise inappropriate content.
• Anything illegal, or raising money for illegal purposes.
• Trying to break into, overload or misuse the site or other people's accounts.

Reports and removal

We review reports and may take down a campaign's public page, or close an account, if we believe it breaks these terms. If your page was taken down and you think it was a mistake, email us at hello@fillthecan.org.

Business and map information

Business listings come from OpenStreetMap through Geoapify, and maps from OpenStreetMap. They may be out of date or incomplete. Always confirm details with the business.

No guarantees

The site is free and provided "as is". We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, BluePhoenix isn't responsible for losses arising from campaigns, donations, or use of the site.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Your account on the My campaigns page. This permanently deletes the campaigns you own.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
